The Old City of London - Tales from the River Thames

Hello, it's great to meet you! I'm Peter, a qualified City of London and City of Westminster green badge walking guide.

Come and join me on a journey through time and hear about the origins of London and the Roman city, the wibbly wobbly bridge, St. Paul's Cathedral, wildlife in the river Thames (yes, it has life!), frost fairs - on thin ice, the story of London Bridge, Tower Bridge, the mysterious City Livery companies and how the City was destroyed by fire!

On this walk you'll see some of London's most beautiful sights as we stroll for 90 minutes from St. Paul's Cathedral to the Tower of London where the walk ends. Along the way, you'll see the Millenium Bridge, Queenhithe, Vintners Hall, Southwark Bridge, London Bridge, the Monument, Old Billingsgate fish market and Tower Bridge.

Welcome to the city that is my home. I was born here, went to university here, work here and above all, have fun here! I've always enjoyed strolling around its hidden streets and alleyways, often discovering something new around each corner!

I've been very fortunate to have had a varied career that allowed me to travel and work around the world for humanitarian organisations such as the Red Cross but the excitement, history and fascination of London has always drawn me back home.

I still get excited every time I learn or see something new, so why not come and join me on a guided walk and hear about some of the stories that make this city so fascinating.

2000 years of stories packed into a 90 minute guided walk! I've been leading this walk for many years and it's one of my favourites. There is so much to explore - ancient symbols, wildlife in the river and stories of destruction and the rise of the City.

Follow the footpath that surprises many Londoners with it's secret passageways, murals and mosaics. I love it when people tell me that they never knew these places existed.

With specatcular views along the entire route at any time of day, this is a great walk for photographers or those who just enjoy soaking up the sights.

London Bridge is often dismissed as one of the plainest of London's bridges... but don't be deceived! This is undeniably London's greatest bridge. It has been rebuilt many times and stories of the bridge date back to Roman times, 2000 years ago.
