The Alpha Community Foundation of Oklahoma is a 501(c)(3) organization organized to implement Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, IncorporatedⓇ programs and activities that benefit the community. We want to be a catalyst for positive change. Since our beginnings, we’ve been driven by the ideas we initially founded our foundation upon: Civic Engagement, Educational Outreach, Health and Wellness, and Community Service.

The Alpha Community Foundation of Oklahoma supports the following community-based activities:

  • The Alpha Boys Institute concentrates on the importance of mentorship and healthy relationships for boys and young men. Through this program, at-risk youth are mentored by professional men and introduced to various careers such as banking, law enforcement, higher education, and entrepreneurial endeavors.

  • The “Go-to-High-School, Go-to-College” program, established in 1922, concentrates on the importance of completing secondary and collegiate education as a road to advancement. Statistics prove the value of this extra impetus in making a difference in the success of young African-American men, given that school completion is the single best predictor of future economic success. Through the Go-to-High-School, Go-to-College educational initiative, young men receive information and learn strategies to facilitate success. Alpha men provide youth participants with excellent role models to emulate.

  • Project Alpha is a collaborative project designed to provide education, motivation, and skill-building on issues of responsibility, relationships, teen pregnancy, and sexually transmitted diseases for young males ages 12-15. Designed to provide young men with current and accurate information about teen pregnancy prevention, Project Alpha consists of a series of workshops and informational sessions conducted by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity brothers.

The Pearls of SSO Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization organized to implement Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, IncorporatedⓇ Sigma Sigma Omega Chapter programs and activities that benefit the community.

Some of Sigma Sigma Omega program initiatives supported by PSSO include:

  • The Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Pack. Sigma Sigma Omega is partnering with The Covenant Church to provide weekend and holiday meals to children in need in the Oklahoma City area.

  • Youth Leadership Institute. An interactive leadership development program to empower and engage youth ages 11-13.

  • The Little Miss AKA Pageant. A pageant for girls ages 4-15. The mission of the Little Miss AKA Pageant is to provide social development through cultural and educational workshops, promote community service and volunteerism, and promote unity and a spirit of friendship that is instilled in the participants through a fun, cooperative, and memorable environment.

  • Faded and Educated Back-to-School Event. A back-to-school event that provides free haircuts and hairstyles, back-to-school supplies, and uniforms for students headed back to school.

The Pearls of SSO is also committed to assisting students with the cost of a college education by giving the Cheryl Maynard Fowler Memorial Scholarship. To date, PSSO has given away over $10,000 in scholarships to students in Oklahoma. To increase scholarship giving, PSSO is raising funds to establish a scholarship endowment fund through The Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation.

The Kentucky Derby Day Party is a Charitable Fundraiser. All proceeds will go towards the Pearls of SSO Foundation and The Alpha Community Foundation of Oklahoma. No refunds will be given for this event. If you can no longer attend the event, we encourage you to sell or give your tickets away. While a portion of all sponsorships are tax deductible, individual tickets and table purchases are not tax deductible.

Please be advised that attending the Kentucky Derby Day Party may result in the use of your image and/or likeness in printed and electronic materials to promote future events and programs of Pearls of SSO Foundation and the Alpha Community Foundation of Oklahoma in publications on the internet including social media sites, and press materials.
