About this Event
The Not So Serious Burns Unit is a hugely entertaining show by writer, musician, Burns Fellow, Scots Scriever & Slam Poetry Champion, Hamish MacDonald, and musician & singer-songwriter, Liza Mulholland, of songs by Robert Burns, inspired by or associated with him.
Meeting up with Thomas Paine, Woody Guthrie, Burke & Hare and others along the way in this jaunt across two centuries of Scottish history and culture, Burns's ideals, contradictions and influence on other major figures are exhumed for fresh examination.
Satirical, comedic, whilst also a serious celebration, it's a Burns night like no other! There will be haggis though...but in a paella! Created in 2025, the show has played to great acclaim at the Dundee Burns Club, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Ardersier International Folk Club, Belladrum and elsewhere.
