What is more beautiful on a cold winter’s night than catching a glimpse of the northern lights or “aurora borealis” dancing across the sky? This stunning phenomenon is deeply embedded in the mythology of many cultures, and in the past, the causes of northern lights were ascribed to everything from dancing spirits to God’s anger.
This multimedia presentation will take the audience through the history of this phenomenon from ancient times to modern space based science. It will also explain why this fall and winter will give you the best chances to experience the aurora in the Bay area. The Sun is more active than in 22 and is fueling strong auroras more frequently visible as far south as San Francisco.
The lecture will include several clips from Pål’s awards-winning documentary «The Northern Lights - a Magic Experience». He will also present his new book “Northern Lights – a Practical Travel Guide” Signed books will be for sale after the lacture.
