The Adelphi 40th Anniversary MonthThe None

THE NONE is a new band of lifelong musicians. Comprising bassist Gordon Moakes (Bloc Party, Young Legionnaire), vocalist Kaila Whyte (Blue Ruth, Youth Man), guitarist Jim Beck (Cassels) and drummer Chris Francombe (Frauds), they make an uncompromising vision of noise rock with melody at its heart.
The band formed at the start of 2023 and bonded over hours in the rehearsal room – making noise, discussing shared obsessions, and, most importantly, playing together.
The anonymity of their name reflects a creative approach which favours egoless experimentation and open collaboration. This ethos, the combined decades of music making, and the unique musical identities of all four members can be clearly heard in the art they create.
The band are gearing up for debut shows and releases in 2024. Fans of Shellac, The Jesus Lizard, Silverfish and Unwound will likely find plenty to enjoy.
+ The 113
The 113 is a conjuration of a dark and visceral post-punk. The genre-bending project combines heavy guitars and racing rhythms, with cathartic and emphatic melodies. Pounding through flesh and bone, their music is overwhelming and their songs are absolute bangers, but not exclusively suited for the dancefloor. The 113 is as much for the mosh pit kids in the front, as for the timid music freaks in the back.
+ Rothco.
Rothco. came storming out of the blocks for their debut show in April and blew the roof of The Adelphi. Post punk/agit punk/fuzz punk…featuring musicians from Hull royalty Rothco. are destined to leave a massive scar on the East Yorkshire coast. Brilliant!
