About this Event
This is the story of a spiritual adventurer whose blessed unrest motivates him to search various paths of healing.
He becomes a student in two spiritual paths of healing, one of which originated several millennia ago, and the other several decades ago, and despite their different ages, cultures and lands in which they arose and methods in which they are taught, they reveal themselves as sharing common aspects, especially the wholeness and healing they produce.
Gautama Buddha’s curiosity led him to explore his mind, body, and spirit like a scientist, discovering truths — later called the Dhamma — that could help people escape suffering.
Similarly, when psychotherapist Richard Schwartz's patients weren't improving, he stepped backed from the models in which he trained and objectively observed and listened to the data before him, namely his patients. His curiosity led to the development of a new model called Internal Family Systems (IFS), where patients heal by building relationships within their internal psyche.
Both the Buddha and Schwartz dedicated their lives to teaching their findings and offering pathways to alleviate human misery.
This presentation will include meditation, direct experience with IFS, and space for conversation.

Dan Doniger
Dan is a psychotherapy practitioner trained in the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model, and he is based in Beacon. His personal healing path with chronic pain, vision loss and symptom-management related to asthma informs his therapy practice as it pertains to raising awareness of mind-body-spirit connections.
For one score and five years, he worked as an RN, much of which was in home hospice care in NYC. His spiritual biography includes significant practice with meditation and the teachings of the Buddha, and when called for by clients, he integrates aspects of these with IFS therapy.
Dan also offers Case Managing to help people integrate their interactions with the conventional medical world and holistic adjuvants. This Case Managing can serve those who are in fine form, with disease or entering end-of-life. He aspires to serve people as a spiritual healer. Healing paths are accessible to us all, and Dan beholds his therapist’s role as companion and guide to his clients as they walk their own path and discover the wholeness which is a birthright.
Dan is a spouse, grandfather, son and sibling, and he is grateful for the torment, joy and wisdom he receives in these various family roles. He collaborates with his wife on their large garden, on which they benefit from a relationship with plants and their nutrition, medicine and spirit. His understanding of the wisdom and power of the natural world began when he was raised on ancestral land of the Pequot People, and since childhood, he has continuously been receiving interconnections.
