Detroit, MI – The Preservation of Jazz Monday Night Music Series closes out its Fall & Winter 2025 season with a moving tribute to the High Priestess of Soul, Nina Simone. On Monday, December 29, 2025, the historic Aretha’s Jazz Café will host “A Tribute to Nina Simone” featuring the incredible vocals of Faye Bradford, delivering an evening of passion, power, and soul.
Hosted by Sky Covington with co-host Mike Bonner, this event invites audiences to reflect, celebrate, and honor one of the most important voices in music and social justice.

About Nina Simone
Nina Simone (1933–2003) was an iconic American singer, songwriter, pianist, and activist. Known as the “High Priestess of Soul,” she fused jazz, classical, blues, gospel, and folk into a style uniquely her own. Simone’s fearless artistry produced classics like “Feeling Good,” “I Put a Spell on You,” “Sinnerman,” and “Mississippi Goddam,” the latter becoming an anthem of the Civil Rights Movement.
