“the night we rode,” A staged-reading of an original play written and Directed by Mercedes Loving-Manley. The nite we rode is an intimate look at the night Teddy Pendergrass and Tenika Watson got into a car accident that would alter Teddy’s life as a performer forever. After the performance, there will be a community Q&A/talkback. The show will run November 21 and November 22.

Mercedes Loving-Manley is a performer and storyteller whose art and spacemaking is informed by deep interest in dismantling and reshaping societal constructs as we know them (ie: gender and race). Born and raised in Dorchester, MA with a degree in creative writing and film, the stories she writes are worlds of reimagined urgency and possibilities for Black people. Her documentary film 'The World and Then Some’ highlights the experiences of Black LGBTQ+ folks from her hometown, a community near and dear to her. She describes her latest EP 'OOZE' as "mostly me remembering who I am and my purpose". Through her art, Mercedes explores the possibilities of community, romance, desire, and pleasure within, and beyond the lines of the inner city.

Terrell James Jones - TEDDY
Terrell James Jones, a Springfield MA native, is a singer-songwriter whose passion for storytelling through music and theater continues to grow with each performance. He made his acting debut as Monsieur D’Arque in a local production of “Beauty and the Beast” and went on to portray Benny in a local production of “In the Heights”. Terrell later joined two touring ensembles: First Generation’s “Tenderness” and Sandglass Theater’s “Babylon”, both of which deepened his commitment to socially engaged theater. He remains grateful to the mentors, friends and family who recognized his potential and encouraged his creative spirit.
Danielle Davis - TENIKA
Danielle Davis is a Brooklyn based Actor, Model, Playwright and Poet. When she’s not on stage or in front of the camera striking a pose, she can be found interacting and supporting her community siblings, watching 90s syndicated TV shows or curating witty one-liners. Danielle is a sweet and spicy Southern Belle who invites you to come and see her theatrical debut in The night we rode.
Cynthia Claudio - YVETTE
Cynthia is delighted to be a part of Mercedes' production. She loves working with local and emerging artists showcasing their talents. Cynthia is passionate about the arts, working in front and behind the scenes performing for over 15 years. Her most recent onstage appearances were in 'Darling Mr. London' (Pasture Prime Players, Charlton MA 05.2025), 'Plaza Suite' (2025) and 'Spreading it Around' (2024 Gateway Players, Sturbridge MA). She recently celebrated her directorial debut at the Lava Center in Greenfield, MA with staged readings of 'Aananda'. She is happy to be back gracing the Cityspace stage since performing 'P*ssy Sludge' with Real Live Theatre
(Sunderland MA) in 2023.
