The New Woman to the New Look is a series of five talks delivered by costume specialist Sharn Matthews and curator Rebecca Shawcross exploring what women in the first half of the twentieth century wore with examples from the clothing and shoe collections at Northampton Museum and Art Gallery.

1900s The S-shape silhouette, leisure footwear
Wednesday 9 October:
1910s Hobble skirts, empire lines, boots
Wednesday 16 October:
1920s Hemlines, flappers, bar shoes
Wednesday 23 October:
1930s The bias cut, T-bar shoes, sandals
Wednesday 30 October:
1940s Utility, The New Look, clogs and court shoes
