About this Event
The Story Show is a live theater event in which local readers give their voices to their poignant, powerful, sometimes hilarious and always heart-warming tales. Each show has a theme and provides the audience with the fantastic opportunity to bear witness to the threads that run through all of our lives–our stories. This show's theme is GRIEF. Writers will be sharing their stories around that theme in whatever way that works for them. Not all stories will be about death and grieving, but also about the many ways we grieve in a lifetime.
The Story Show is produced and directed by Heather Westberg King, and this show's proceeds will be donated to Wild Haven, a sportsman's youth club created in memory of William and Harrison Dahl. Lara Dahl, Will and Harry's mom, has submitted a piece of writing that Heather will be reading on her behalf. Please join out community in honoring the memory of two boys that impacted us all with their infectious joy and love for the outdoors.
Eight or nine story-tellers will hit the stage, get behind that podium, face the microphone and their nerves, and read their true stories of grief to the crowd. If you’re familiar with The Moth live storytelling events, you have the right idea. These stories pack a punch. They can be funny. They can be terribly sad. They can be inspiring and moving. When a story is read aloud in front of an audience, with the writer’s own voice, something magical happens. Beauty will flow, touching each mind and heart in the audience.
In the end, a Story Show is difficult to explain. One needs to experience it to fully understand. So please join the growing crowd of faithful Story Show-ers. We’re fun, and maybe even truly inspiring.
