The New Klezmer Trio brings together three of the most prominent young musicians of the international klezmer scene to perform new instrumental concert works, Yiddish songs, and dance music. Based in Boston, MA, the members of the New Klezmer Trio have performed and taught across the world, from New York to New Orleans, Saratoga Springs to Shanghai, Weimar to Vienna. On Sunday, November 17, from 6 pm to 8 pm, the band will present a Dance with The New Klezmer Trio at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Belfast, 37 Miller Street in Belfast.
Klezmer music is soulful and lively, a genre that originated among the Jews of Eastern Europe. The music spread with the Jewish diaspora and gained its American popularity in the early 20th century. A klezmer revival that began in the 1970s has been sustained and reenergized by a new generation of musicians. In its present form, klezmer incorporates elements of German, Baroque, Slavic, Ottoman, religious Jewish music, and jazz. In the hands of the New Klezmer Trio, the musical effects are electrifying. The trio are Adah Hetko, Nat Seelen, and Rebecca Mac; all are cultural scholars and superb musicians.
Bagaduce Music is hosting a full weekend with The New Klezmer Trio with a Concert on the 16th in Bangor and a Lecture/Demo on the 17th in Blue Hill. So if you're looking for more of The New Klezmer Trio, we've got you covered.
