About this Event

The Art and Science of Wound Care is a comprehensive, educational program designed for wound care clinicians in all the various health care delivery settings. The program purpose is to assist caregivers in gaining confidence and competence, both in administering direct wound care and in optimizing the potential for wound healing. It is a presentation of the art of caregiving as well as the science that guides its delivery.

This session will consist of the following clinical modules, participant interaction and workshops:

•Lower Leg Ulcer

•Skin Tears

•Skin Integrity and Wound Healing

•Holistic Approach to Wound Management

•Dressing Category Selection


Michele Labbie, RN, MN, NP:

Michele is a Nurse Practitioner, who completed her Master in Nursing at the University of Alberta in 2007. She has been a nurse for more than 30 years and is passionate about wound assessment, diagnosis and management, particularly in people with lower leg ulcers and diabetic foot complications. She has focused her expertise in this area for over 20 years and is actively involved in clinical pathway and practice guideline development and implementation. She also provides wound and infection management education to health care professionals. Michele practices in an out-patient wound clinic and is involved in ambulatory intravenous and infusion therapy.
