The Navigation is a Grade II listed building that was originally built over the road in 1845 owned and run by William Comley and Charles Etheridge. Both William and Charles brewed their own beer on site for 60 years until they were took over by Showell’s in 1905.
In 1931 the Navigation was took down brick by brick and rebuilt and designed by Percy J over the road on Titford Road where it still stands today. Over the years the Navigation has had a lot of owners and loyal customers and some of those still linger within the walls today.
The owners have experienced some truly terrifying moments within this pub. Half full pint glasses have been knocked off tables. Dark shadows have been witnessed in multiple rooms of the pub. Male customers complain of being pushed in the men’s bathroom and some women are known to leave the women’s bathroom with unexplained scratch marks. There has been a lot of reported deaths in the canal that flows right outside the back of the pub, one being a little boy back in the 1940’s.
