Join every Duke and Duchess, every Earl and Countess, every peer and peeress, and everyone who should be here (yes, even flower girls!) for a smashing, positively dashing ball in honour of the opening day of the Ascot races! The celebrated chamber ensemble Greenwich Mean Time will play an evening of late Victorian and Edwardian dances. Dance waltzes, polkas, mazurka waltzes, schottisches, and some of the new dances from the Americas: The ragtime one-step, two-step, Hesitation Waltz, and tango.
Doors open at 6:30 pm and there will be a pre-ball dance class in Edwardian ballroom dance at 7 pm followed by formal dancing to live music from 8 pm to midnight. All set dances will be taught and called at the ball.
