Mako’s on the Strip was one of the most popular bars in Lafayette Louisiana between the years of 1985-1997. They set the trend for everything in Lafayette and southern Louisiana during those 12 years. Makos housed a dance floor and stage inside and a large patio on the outside. They housed concerts from Egyptian Lover, Stevie B, Tone Loc, and the list just goes on. Every night they had something going on anywhere from bikini, Chippendales, to cutting edge music, from some of the best DJ’s and performers around. Mako’s was the first to bring the club to your radio station with Club 94.5 live with Super Dave in the Mix and Bobby Novasad on the mic. This night is in honor of Mark Langlinais, Wynn Carbo, and Troy DuFore the owners and creators of Makos on the Strip. The Lafayette Night Life scene would not be what it is today without Makos. Corner Bar and The Room at Corner Bar will be hosting a night to remember the music of Makos. Super Dave and John Fortier will be dusting off their records and putting on their Members Only jackets for this one night. We are not going to try to duplicate or imitate Makos, but we hope to bring you back for one more night.
I, Stanley Lerille, am really excited to host. I would not be where I am today without Mark, Wynn, Troy, and Super Dave. I’m not going to say how old I was, but the first Club I ever went to was Makos. I wasn’t there to party but to learn how to DJ from the Super Dave. I remember that night like it was yesterday. Something clicked and I knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, and I have been blessed to be able to chase my dreams.
So, in honor of Makos
