About this Event
Chemeketa Community College is pleased to present the Music of A Charlie Brown's Christmas.
On December 9, 1965, a decidedly unconventional animated television special aired for the first time. This story about a boy, his humble Christmas tree and the true meaning of the season was accompanied by an equally unconventional soundtrack. Penned and performed by jazz pianist Vince Guaraldi, the music of A Charlie Brown Christmas playfully skates across an ice rink of multiple genres. The show’s song list includes original Guaraldi compositions, as well as inventive takes on classic and traditional holiday tunes.
This performance is very much in the spirit of how Vince Guaraldi approached his job back in 1965. You’ll hear renditions close to the original soundtrack, but also some re-imaginings, different sonic textures, extended journeys, and maybe even a surprise or two. The show will also feature two amazing musicians: Jarred Venti (bass) and Mark Powers (drums/percussion). With this wonderful trio, Chemeketa would love to offer this Christmas gift to you, and warm wishes this holiday season.
