The Music Man follows Harold Hill, a smooth-talking con artist who arrives in the small town of River City, Iowa, with plans to swindle the locals by selling them expensive band instruments and uniforms, despite having no musical knowledge. However, Hill's plans begin to unravel when he falls in love with Marian Paroo, the skeptical librarian who sees through his charm. As Hill slowly transforms through his growing affection for Marian and the town, he unexpectedly becomes a real bandleader, teaching the community the value of music and unity.
