Interlochen Pianist Hyemin Kim, and Oboist Daniel Gurevich presents "Oboe: The Singing Voice" with music by M. Arnold, R. Still, C. Saint-Saëns, G. Verdi, G. Donizetti, and F. Mendelssohn.
A versatile performing artist and educator, Dr. Hyemin Kim serves as a Collaborative Piano Faculty and teaches secondary piano lessons at Interlochen Arts Academy and has a wide range of musical careers as a soloist, recitalist, collaborator, chamber musician, and piano instructor. As a featured soloist, Kim has been invited to perform with several orchestras, such as Philharmonische Solisten Bratislava (Mozart Hall, Wiener Konzerthaus, Austria), Archi Chamber Orchestra (Sungsan Art Hall, South Korea), and Benzie Area Symphony Orchestra (Corson Auditorium, Interlochen, MI). She has also had numerous invitation performances throughout the U.S., Austria and Korea. Dr. Hyemin Kim holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance, as well as her second Doctorate in Collaborative Piano from Michigan State University, fully supported by Graduate Assistantships as a full scholarship recipient; a Master of Music and Postgraduate Diploma in Piano Performance from Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz, Austria; and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Kookmin University, South Korea.
Daniel Gurevich is the Instructor of Oboe at the Interlochen Center for the Arts. Praised for his elegant musicality and outgoing spirit, Daniel has become a sought-after oboist across the United States, performing on both the East and West Coasts. He served as Principal Oboe of the Rogue Valley Symphony in Oregon and regularly performs supporting and principal roles with the San Francisco Symphony, the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, and the New Jersey Symphony, among many others. An avid orchestral musician and soloist, Daniel is a two-time winner of the Junior Bach Festival and made his concerto debut with the Berkeley Youth Orchestra at age 13. He also frequently performs chamber music of all ensembles and genres, and enjoys making his own arrangements.
