About this Event

Please join us as we learn about the moths of Troopers Hill, in the company of lepidopterists David Brown and Ray Barnett. We will also be joined by the poet Holly Corfield Carr, who will guide us in imagining the mysterious lives of moths.

Further details:

Please meet by the chimney at the top of Troopers Hill at 6:30 pm. The evening will finish around 9 pm.

Since it will be dark on the hill, please bring along a torch or a headlamp, as well as suitable clothing for the evening (as temperatures in early October can be quite cold).

The event will also be weather dependent, as we will require good weather for the moth trapping. In case of cancellation, we will be in touch with you before the start of the event.

Finally, please do bring a notepad and a pen or pencil. Guided by Holly Corfield Carr, we will be spending part of the night writing about the moths of Troopers Hill. This will be a fun, gentle and completely voluntary exercise (and no experience or expertise in writing is at all necessary!)

This event is sponsored by the University of Bristol, and is being run in association with the Friends of Troopers Hill and the Bristol Moth Group.

A note on social distancing:

Please note that we will follow social distancing protocols for the night. Please also make sure to wash or sanitize your hands after the event, as we will be passing around moth traps during the evening.
