Join us for the Morley Chamber Orchestra's season opener, "Bohemian Reverie: A Celebration of Czech Composers." This enchanting concert features the vibrant rhythms of Martinu's Sinfonietta La Jolla, alongside Dvořák’s evocative Legends and the lyrical Romance in F minor for violin and orchestra, op. 11, played by the young talented Elif Ece Cansever. The evening culminates with Mozart's magnificent Symphony No. 39 in E-flat major, K. 504, a tribute to the city of Prague. Experience an unforgettable night of rich melodies and cultural heritage as we celebrate the brilliance of Czech music!

Turkish violinist Elif Ece Cansever is currently a student of Professor Alexander Gilman at the Royal College of Music in London, where holds a full scholarship for her studies awarded by the Bowerman Charitable Trust.

In 2017, Elif gave her professional debut with J. Sibelius’ Violin Concerto, accompanied by the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Rengim Gökmen. Following her success, she has been recognised among important musicians and conductors and received invitations to perform as a soloist and chamber musician at further concerts and festivals. Her recent concerts feature performances as soloist in venues such as the Konzerthaus Berlin, Kurhaus Merano and at the renowned festival "Heidelberger Frühling".

She is a current member and soloist of the prestigious youth string ensemble LGT Young Soloists. As part of this ensemble, she has had extraordinary opportunities to perform throughout Europe and Asia, as well as recording CD's under the label Naxos. As an active chamber musician, she took part at the Bilkent Music Days as the first violinist of the Bilkent Quintet.

During her studies, Elif has participated in many masterclasses and was invited to perform for world renowned musicians such as Maxim Vengerov, Mincho Minchev, Alexander Markov, Guy Braunstein, Alexander Vinnitski and Andrej Bielow. She won the second prize at the 3rd National Gülden Turalı Violin Competition in October 2008 in Mersin. She also appeared on the "Small Hands, Big Talents" concert program held in Istanbul and broadcast on the NTV channel.

At the age of six, Elif was accepted to the Bilkent University of Music and Performing Arts, where he received violin lessons from Rasim Bagirov. Later, she continued her studies with Lutsia Ibragimova at the Royal College of Music in London. Apart from her violin studies, she received lessons in composition by Tolga Yayalar and performed her own work at the Young Composers Young Interpreters Concert in Bilkent University in 2015. Since the start of her musical education, she also plays the piano and studied with Kathron Sturrock at the Royal College of Music.

Elif Ece Cansever plays on a fine violin by Joseph Rocca ca. 1848 and gratefully acknowledges its loan from the Royal College of Music in London.

Cansever will release her debut solo album, Beethoven and Brahms Violin Sonatas, in Autumn 2024, under the Champs Hill Records label
