This Halloween join us on the treacherous moors where birds plummet from the sky and diaries reveal murderous plots! After exchanging letters with the mysterious Mr. Branwell Emilie accepts his offer of employment only to find herself stranded with his sisters maid and family dog. In this bloody punk-rock melodrama Emilie is seduced by the moors where expectations are upended at every turn and queer sexual tension crackles. Jen Silverman (author of The Roommate and Collective Rage: A Play in Five Betties) draws inspiration from the Brontë sisters’ correspondence to deliver a twisted take on the Victorian gothic.
The Moors is the latest installment of Theatre Lunatico’s Tales from Behind the Basement Door series. Tara Blau Smollen directs an ensemble cast featuring Rachel Brown Devon deGroot Shawn Oda James Perry Sophie Ruf and Lauri Smith.
