The Mirandola Ensemble with classical guitarist Maja Radovanlija

Concerts by the Creek is excited to welcome The Mirandola Ensemble back to our stage along with extraordinary classical guitarist, Maja Radovanlija. Join us for an evening of love songs entitled The Music of Jeff and John featuring John Dowland’s lute songs and Minnesota composer Jeffrey Van’s suite, Pictures of a Floating World.

This concert is presented free of charge and is supported by the Matson Music Fund. Reserved tickets are required.

The Mirandola Ensemble, established in 2011, is a Minneapolis, Minnesota-based professional choral ensemble dedicated to promoting the highest standards of choral music, the idea of choral music as ‘high art’ in the Western tradition, and the aesthetics of the Renaissance. The ensemble is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization, and has served multiple years as a Class Notes Artist-in-Residence for Classical Minnesota Public Radio. The group’s three studio albums – “The Infant King: Advent and Christmastide”, “Unquiet Thoughts: The Lute Songs of John Dowland”, and “Nymphs & Angels” – are all available via iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon, Spotify, and other streaming music services.

The Mirandola Ensemble is led by Artistic Director and tenor Nick Chalmers.

Maja Radovanlija was born in Belgrade, Serbia, and completed her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Belgrade, as a student of Prof. Srdjan Tosic. She has been awarded several academic and competition prizes including 1st prize at the International Competition in Kjustendil, Bulgaria. Maja has performed extensively as solo and chamber musician, touring Serbia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Macedonia, Greece, Tunisia, Switzerland and other European countries. As a graduate student (M.M and D.M) at Indiana University, she studied guitar with Ernesto Bitetti and early music with lutenist Nigel North. Maja’s eclectic musical background includes performances with Mu Daiko Japanese Theater and improvised concerts with guitarist/composer Alex Lubet. In 2011, she was appointed to the guitar faculty at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Maja joined the Minneapolis Guitar Quartet in 2012.

The Concerts by the Creek music series exists to offer music lovers from the Twin Cities community a welcoming environment with world-class musical performances across a wide range of genres. This series is presented by St. Stephen's Episcopal Church to share the gift of live music and make it accessible to all those who seek the shared and moving connection that music brings.

Concerts may be followed by an informal reception providing a unique opportunity to meet and engage with the musicians. We have a fantastic concert series lineup for the 2024 season! We hope you’ll join us for wonderful music in a beautiful space.

HISTORIC ST. STEPHEN’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH

These events will take place in historic St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. This beautiful building was built in 1937 when the new Country Club District was forming. As the first protestant church in Edina, St. Stephen’s was and remains a true community church nestled into the surrounding neighborhood on the banks of Minnehaha Creek.

PARKING

St. Stephen’s does not have an onsite parking lot. Parking is available in the public lots connected to Utley and Wooddale Parks just West of the church. Street parking is also available. This means you may have to park a short distance away from the church and walk. We strongly encourage carpooling, use of ride services such as Uber/Taxi, and taking public transportation.

There is a bus stop directly opposite the church entrance. Bike parking is also available onsite.

Due to the historic nature of the building, the church has some limited accessibility accommodations. We apologize for these inconveniences. A handicapped-accessible restroom is available.

CANCELLATIONS

Should an unavoidable circumstance arise requiring the cancellation of a concert, all attendees holding reserved tickets will be notified via email and we will update the event page on our website and social channels. We will also contact those holding reserved tickets with rescheduled concerts dates as appropriate.
