Come experience this structured 2-hour workshop facilitated by Dr. Scott Treatman DO designed to cultivate self compassion, stress reduction and equanimity (composure and calm especially under stress). This program is rooted in the world renown Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program, developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, which is the goldstandard for stress reduction programs around the globe.This workshop should be considered a taste of mindfulness and meditation. Participants will learn about the concepts of mindfulness and meditation and how to integrate this practice into our daily lives. No one is immune from hardships, physical and emotional pain and inherent suffering. We will learn how to more mindfully navigate the inevitable difficult times that we all face as our lives unfold. Dr. Treatman will guide a variety of meditations, in essence developing our mindfulness muscle to achieve better clarity of the circumstances that show up in our loves. Through these practices, we can capture more present moments vs. living in the past (ruminating) or living in the future (planning, worrying, judging, fantasizing).
In addition to the introduction to mindfulness and experiential practice, all participants will receive a flash drive with 4 x 20-minute guided meditations and 6 “mini” meditations which range from 2-12 minutes. Additional readings that support the practice and a link to 4 x 30-minute online sessions.
