Day of the Dead ("Dia de Muertos" in Spanish) is a celebration that focuses on gatherings of family and friends in remembrance of loved ones that have died. It is a way of celebrating the life of beloved ones who have passed away - a celebration of Life!
Among the traditions associated with this celebration an altar is build honouring the deceased with sugar skulls, marigolds, and handcrafts, as well as photos, memorabilia, and the favourite food and beverages of the departed.
