What is a MESSIAH SING?
This is an opportunity for audience participation during the performance of Handel’s most famous and beloved composition, The Messiah. Under the direction of a conductor, soloists will present the Recitatives and Airs [descriptive names for the types of pieces one person will sing!] Included in the Oratorio, the type of work this is, are Choruses which are sung by a number of people. A choir in the front will lead THE AUDIENCE in singing these. Audience members may or may not want to participate…it is all good! The music speaks for itself and even as a listener, being immersed in the singing is joyous. Since many people have sung The Messiah at some time in their life, this is an ideal time to open up “the pipes” and sing out! There will be word sheets and music scores at the performance and many times, concert goers bring their own scores. There are no mistakes or judgements! Moving forward, all of Carroll Sings! With One Voice! events will feature sing-a-longs.
Join us after the performance for a reception in St. John's Portico!
