About this Event
We warmly invite you to a creative textile workshop with artist collective Made in Merton, delivered by the Merton Council Heritage Team. The Merton Story workshop series forms part of Merton United, a new initiative celebrating the diverse cultures and heritage that shape our borough and supporting Merton’s Cultural Impact Award programme.
In this session, we mark LGBTQ+ History Month by recognising the experiences and contributions of Merton’s LGBTQ+ community. The Merton Story is committed to ensuring our local history reflects every voice, and we welcome you to help tell a fuller, more inclusive story of Merton.
This free, hands-on workshop is open to all abilities, all ages, and all allies. Explore block printing and storytelling techniques while also enjoying a heritage talk that highlights Merton’s rich history.
Participants are invited (but not required) to bring photos or meaningful objects or materials—such as textiles or food packaging—that may inspire discussion and, with your consent, inform the artwork created.
No prior experience is needed. The venue is wheelchair accessible. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
