THE MEMBERZ
A collection of Toronto's finest musicians across a broad spectrum, The Memberz have chosen the influential spirit of modern reggae in which to express themselves lyrically, musically, socially and politically. They draw upon the energy of the Jamaican-Canadian cross-cultural experience, supported by a throbbing bass, polished rhythms and powerful vocal harmony, to break through the limits of traditional genre expectations and categories. The band consists of singers, songwriters, musicians, producers, arrangers and DJ's, lending their unique recipe a universal appeal, and a distinctive multi-dimensional sound. Original material from their multiple songwriters ranges in style from Foundation Reggae through Lovers Rock, branching into Neo-Roots and onward through Ska and Rock and EDM influences. They make a lyrical stand for inclusiveness, real talk and nowadays social justice issues.
JASON WILSON
A 2-time Juno nominee for Best Reggae Recording, Dr. Jason Wilson is an internationally renowned ambassador and visionary of Canadian reggae music. Layering influences of folk from his Scottish roots, Jamaican mento, jazz and many other genres over a roots reggae foundation, Wilson’s music often delves into rarely-explored historical territory and uses unique narrative techniques.
