Two demographically diverse, snarky sleight-of-hand experts battle live for the title of DC’s Best Magician in The Magic Duel. This show is full of seriously funny magic that will fool you. Badly. Audience members choose the magical challenges for the contest and then vote electronically to determine the winner of the coveted 'Golden Wand.' This 5-star rated show (Yelp, TripAdvisor) has run continuously at the beautiful and historic Mayflower Hotel since 2016. Shows on October 8, 2022 will be in The Senate room of The Mayflower, on the Lobby level. It is a tricky room to find, so please give yourself extra time before the show.

Drinks from Edgar, the hotel lobby bar, are welcome in the show. Feel free to stop there before coming to The Sentate Showroom.

Are there public safety requirements due to the Covid-19 pandemic?

As of April 1, 2022, The DC Mayor's Office, The Mayflower Hotel, and DC Theater community have no specific safety mandates or requirements. We are committed to the safety and health of our staff and audiences and will adopt future mandates and requirements should they arise.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

The comedy in The Magic Duel has a topical and political slant which makes it great for adults and uninteresting to most people under 18 years old. To maintain the atmosphere of The Mayflower and the show, we suggest an upscale dress code and that no one under 15 years old attends.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The best option is the Farragut North Metro station, one block south of the hotel. Metered street parking is very limited, but the PMI Parking Garage at 1725 Desales St. NW. is right nextdoor to the hotel. If you drive, do yourself a favor and use the SpotHero app. I use it and find parking for the whole day for $10 about a block from the Mayflower.

What's the refund policy?

Refunds are available up to 24 hours prior to the show. We understand that emergencies happen. Please contact us before your ticketed show and we can also transfer your tickets to another performance date. We are unable to make any changes 1 hour prior to any showtime.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, on your phone is fine. We usually just need the name you used to buy tickets.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

Yes. You can do this yourself through Eventbrite or contact us to help you with the process.

What can I bring into the event?

Drinks are available at Edgar, the lobby bar in the Mayflower. You may bring them into the show.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Yes, whoever checks in can simply give the name of the person who purchased the tickets on Eventbrite.
