The Hoogland Center for the Arts is thrilled to present "The Lovettes and Shake Baby Shake - A salute to the Female Icons and Founding Fathers of Mid-Century Rock and Roll," featuring international touring acts The Lovettes and Lance Lipinsky and The Lovers on Saturday, June 29th at 7 p.m. The Hoogland Center for the Arts is located at 420 South Sixth Street in Downtown Springfield, Illinois. Experience the evolution of girl group sounds as you enjoy chart-topping hits from artists like the Andrews Sisters, Connie Francis, Peggy Lee, The Ronettes, Leslie Gore, Petula Clark, The Supremes, Dusty Springfield, and more.
The Lovettes, with their internationally acclaimed act spanning over a decade, bring their unique twist to the women who shaped Rock and Roll, performing across the US, Canada, and Europe. They have graced The David Letterman Show and PBS's Doo-Wop Generations, earning endorsements from pop queens Beverly Lee (of The Shimeles) and Judy Craig (of The Chiffons).
The Lovettes will be joined at this performance by Lance Lipinsky and The Lovers. Lipinsky is an international touring star known for creating the role of Jerry Lee Lewis in the original Chicago production of Million Dollar Quartet.
Influenced by the birth of Rock & Roll era of the 1950's and early 60's, Wimberley, Texas native Lance Lipinsky dedicates his career to preserving the lost art genre of mid century roots music as a pianist, songwriter, and show stopping live entertainer. Accompanied by his Chicago based group The Lovers, career highlights include appearing on the David Letterman Show and the legendary Grand Ole Opry Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN.
The Lovettes and Shake Baby Shake will be presented on Saturday, June 29 at 7 p.m. in the LRS Theatre. The concert runs 90 minutes with one intermission.
