About the Writer...
Cricket Daniel, a native Californian, has made a significant mark in the world of theater. Raised in the San Joaquin Valley, she pursued a theater degree from UC Santa Barbara and further honed her craft studying Shakespeare in Cambridge, England. With a rich background in improv and stand-up comedy, Cricket has performed with the national improv troupe Comedy Sportz and graced stages like The Ice House and The Improv.
Her journey into playwriting began serendipitously when she attended a local theater production. Inspired by the playwright present that evening, Cricket penned her first play, COUPLE DATING, the very next day. Since then, her works have been produced nationwide, including her acclaimed 10-minute play, BREAK DREAMS, which was adapted into a short film and premiered at the 2014 Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
Cricket’s full-length play, HELEN ON WHEELS, was a finalist in the 2015 Route 66 New Play Development Workshop and a 2019 Quarter Finalist in the SouthWest Theatre Productions Playwriting Competition. She is a proud recipient of the 2012 Arts, Beautification, and Culture Award for her contributions to local theater and is an active member of The Dramatist Guild of America.
Cricket resides in Bend, Oregon with her husband of 30 years, Jason, and their daughter Spencer, who is studying Oceanography at Oregon State University. When not writing, Cricket enjoys playing Pickleball.
