Public Radio WBHM & The Southern Music Research Center PRESENT The Lost Child LIVE from the High Dive!Join The Lost Child radio host Burgin Mathews at the beautiful new High Dive HiFi Lounge in Birmingham’s Lakeview Marina for the first-ever Lost Child LIVE! Burgin will be spinning an all-vinyl set of vintage rhythm and blues, rockabilly, swing, soul, gospel, classic country, historic field recordings, and more — and WBHM will be broadcasting it all over the airwaves, 5 to 6 PM, at 90.3 FM and wbhm.org. Tune in wherever you are, or (better yet) join the fun in person at The High Dive (524 32nd Street South).
Come out early as Burgin starts warming up the turntables with an opening set at 4; then The Lost Child goes live over the radio at 5. Be sure, too, to stick around after the broadcast for live music from Birmingham jazz great Bo Berry and his Quartet (live music starts at 7). Food and cocktails -- and info about the nonprofit Southern Music Research Center -- will be available. Burgin's book, Magic City: How the Birmingham Jazz Tradition Shaped the Sound of America -- will also be available for purchase.
