The seeds of The Local Brew were planted way back in the mid 2000's when a group of Sydney colleagues decided to enter a corporate Battle of the Cover Bands competition which was held at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. The band had about 100 members including 2 drummers, 16 guitarists, 23 backup singers and a lone dancer who only knew the robot. Realising that there aren't that many pub stages in Sydney that hold a small army, the core of the group, Glenn Sommer (guitar), Adrian Vaughan (guitar & vocals), and Richard Pearce (drums) wielded the axe so that gigs could be booked. 2 new players were brought in to fill the holes, Andrew Mansfield on bass, and Paul Sommer on keyboards & vocals. This leaner and meaner version of the band became The Local Brew and started to build a repertoire of classic pub rock songs that continues to grow each week. Well over 80 songs was the last count! In the early days, the band was purely focused on covering Aussie pub rock songs from the likes of Cold Chisel, INXS, Icehouse and The Angels. As time went by however, they started to expand their horizons and now have a tremendously wide ranging setlist. Chicks dig disco! Everything from Hot Chocolate and Neil Diamond; to Matchbox 20 and The White Stripes now get a run. Just check out the SONG LIST to see how varied it is!
