Dancing Earth’s Bay Area Dance Company presents
THE LISTENING PROJECTIN THE HOUSE OF MATRIARCHS
Join us for a special afternoon of multi-disciplinary, immersive community offerings and emergent performance ritual--offered in the spirit of Eco Artivism, responding to, honoring, and celebrating the wisdom of matriarchs and our elder mentors.

Each dancer has had the honor of collaborating with matriarch/elder mentors in the creation of The Listening Project, exploring the embodied wisdom that emerges from Listening deeply...creating a tapestry guided and woven by Founding Artistic Director & Choreographer Rulan Tangen.
We are honored by the diverse voices and wisdom of collaborating artists and Matriarchs/Elder mentors: Gina Pacaldo, Halifu Osumare Ph.D, Lizae Reyes, & Johnella LaRose.

"It seems that we are in times of collapse and crumble of many systems , and this is a time to listen deeply to what experienced women who we love and respect have to say. And then, to embody that knowledge and determine how to apply it into action in the world…
Though the times are urgent, we move into this with the sweetness of a warm breeze at sunset, the scent of herbal tree and its music as it pours into vintage pottery. This one is like a warm embrace, bring a blanket and join us in the circle!" - Rulan Tangen

As part of a long arc work-in-progress centered in Dancing Earth’s Land Dance practices, we invite audiences to participate in embodied listening to ecologies of land, water, & place, as we honor matriarchs, mentors, and muses of diverse lineages.
Our offering will take place in an interactive and immersive outdoor ritual space on CSU East Bay's campus, in partnership and support by the Wandering Ensemble and CSUEB Dance Department.
This project was made possible by support of MAP Fund. More info about The Listening Project here.
