The Lies We Tell Ourselves: Unmasking Imposter Syndrome in Mental Health Professionals

Even as we help others navigate self-doubt and shame, many of us quietly wrestle with the belief that we’re not good enough. Imposter Syndrome is surprisingly common among mental health professionals—despite our training, credentials, and compassion, we may still fear we’re not qualified or competent “enough.” In this candid and empowering presentation, Amy Hord, LCSW-S, explores why imposter syndrome shows up in our profession, how it impacts our clinical work and personal well-being, and what we can do to challenge it. Through clinical insight, personal stories, and practical tools, Amy helps therapists reconnect with their worth, their why, and their voice.
