Jennie Dancing Butterfly is a Lenape woman who grew up in Berks County, PA. Both of her parents were members of Turtle Island Chatauqua in Lancaster County, PA. and participated in the teachings of Doris Riverbird and Chief Carl White Eagle. Butterfly is a proud member of the Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania. She incorporates her parents' knowledge with experience from her own life's journey, while learning about her culture and heritage. Jennie will provide a display of her parents' regalia, as well as her own. She will also talk about the Lenape language (Unami dialect) and being a part of the revitalization efforts. Butterfly has been studying and learning this language for 4 years and is now a certified instructor. Jennie's program will be highlighted by traditional Lenape stories.
