The New Brighton Coastline is an area steeped in tradition and folklore. For generations, Storytellers have passed down tales of Ghosts, Witches, Smugglers, Secret Tunnels, Poldies (fairies) and epic sagas. From mystical stories of Witches to Mother Redcaps and her Smugglers, Children going to Liscard Vale woods were told to come home before dark, because that was when the Poldies came out.
They say that, on the night of a full moon, if you're brave enough to visit Liscard Vale after dark, you'll hear the laughter of the Witches. Stand very still and listen - the laughter will swiftly turn to screams. But don't step foot in the Witches' clearing, or legend has it you'll be dead within a month 🧙‍♀️ Visit Hell’s Brow, Liscard Vale and the old Gunpowder Village that is connected with Ghosts, Witches, Smugglers, Haunted Buildings and Maritime Murders where centuries of Stories are waiting to be told.
