Presented by Dal Mallory. On February 27th, 1766, the Leedstowns Resolutions were signed for the purpose of resisting the Stamp Act and ensuring Virginians did not comply with the law. Considered to be one of the first attempts to formally resist British policies, along with being a forerunner to the Declaration of Independence, the Leedstown Resolutions emerged as a successful initiative in obstructing the enforcement of the Stamp Act and the use of stamped paper.Dal Mallory is a local historian and a former member of the Westmoreland History Documentation Committee, appointed by the Westmoreland Board of Supervisors. He is also the author of Westmoreland County Virginia Cemeteries.
