You arrive as dusk bleeds through tattered curtains shadows stretching long across faded lace and velvet. The caretaker greets you in a whisper:
“Please mind your manners. The dolls remember everything.”
The air is thick with the scent of old flowers and forgotten childhoods. Every chair is already claimed by a doll—heads cocked glassy eyes fixed as if daring you to sit. Flickering candlelight dances across their cracked faces and from somewhere deep in the house a music box plays a nursery rhyme that never quite finishes.
As the teacups are filled you realize you’re not just a guest—you’re a character in a story that’s still being written. Whispers drift from the dolls’ lips secrets slip between the clink of china and the memory of a vanished soul lingers in the air.
