The Kozmic Blues Revue is a five-piece band that pays tribute to the psychedelic era of rock and roll, and one of its brightest lights, Janis Joplin.Delivering the songs of such a vocal powerhouse is no small task, and singer Daisy Coburn is up to the task. First making a name for herself in a number of Fredericton-area jam sessions, Daisy’s reputation as a soulful vocalist grew with each performance. Her confident stage presence is matched by her high-output, dynamic delivery of Janis Joplin classics, as well as songs by other artists who were shining lights of the time period.
Daisy is ably backed by Marty Hall on drums and vocals, Chris Browne on guitar and vocals, Rob McFee on bass, and Doug Schwartz on harmonica.
Marty Hall has been a professional musician for decades, as a drummer, vocalist and guitarist. His drumming is rock solid yet occasionally playful, and his passionate vocals are an integral part of the band’s sound.
Chris Browne is a familiar face in the Fredericton music scene, as lead guitarist in the Downtown Blues Band, among others. His smooth rhythms and elegant lead guitar add flashes of colour to the music that defined the era.
Although primarily known for his guitar skills, Rob McFee has made a name for himself as a solid and imaginative bassist. His skillful technique is complemented by his tightness with Marty’s drums, ensuring the rock-solid rhythm section necessary for any good band.
Doug Schwartz is more than just a harmonica player. As a serious student of the instrument, he is constantly finding new ways to contribute to the band’s sound, adding creative solos to the mix.
The Kozmic Blues Revue is a group of experienced, professional musicians. They deliver a tight performance which is sure to appeal to any fan of good music, from the psychedelic era of rock and roll and beyond.
