THE KNEE HI'S

Chicago based all-girl rock band The Knee Hi’s are romancing the world with their love letters to rock n roll. The four-piece is woven together with Devyn Crimson on bass, Alice Strider on lead guitar, and sisters Chris Luck on drums, with Ash on rhythm guitar. A fiery passion for music and live shows brought these best friends together. After years spent surrounded by wildly talented musicians and dancing side stage at spectacular shows, the girls wanted to channel that energy into something of their own. Daring to do the unexpected they picked up their instruments for the first time and in the last weeks of 2019, the band exploded onto the scene. Going the untraditional route, they shared their journey as brand new musicians, flawed practices, slumber party recordings, and all. Only able to perform a handful of electric and jam-packed shows before the pandemic brought everything to a halt, the girls switched gears and dove into recording. Releasing two original songs in just about their first year since conception.

Most recently, their second single ‘Action!’ was played on Sirius XM radio station Underground Garage on Rodney Bingenheimer’s Show. While their first single currently has over half a million streams. The band also debuted their third and latest single on the Television show Now Dig This and performed a VOX Mini session in July before gearing up to release their first album independently under their own publishing company in January. They have also recently been featured in American Songwriter. Taking a DIY approach to everything, the band even designs and hand screen prints their own merch.

Each member brings a different flavor to the mix pulling inspiration from 50s doo-wop, 60s psychedelia, 70s punk & glam, and of course the rich music history of Chicago with a recipe that’s all their own. They have been described as “cosmic nostalgia for the soul” “Junkshop glam” & “electric & eclectic” .

Empty Bottle will require all staff, patrons, and performers to provide proof of full vaccination (two weeks after final dose). A negative test will NOT be accepted. Patrons will be asked to show their valid vaccination card (photocopy or digital photo is permissible) when they arrive at the door for entry. Additionally, masks will be worn by staff at all times and will be required of all attendees when not eating and drinking. We are applying these requirements to all future shows and will update the policy as needed or as new guidance requires.

This is a very difficult time for everyone to navigate and we understand that you may be frustrated. We are as well. Please bear with us as we try to keep our staff, artists, patrons, and the City of Chicago safe -- as best we can. Remember that we are all going through this together as a community, and we can beat this if we work together as a community.
