WHAT TO EXPECT: Three award winning songwriters Bill Jackson, Frank Jones and Dave Steel sitting around a kitchen table doing what they do at home. Playing old and new songs from their extensive solo catalogues, interspersed with their take on some classic Australian folk songs, they will make you sing, laugh and cry. A show not to be missed!
BIOGRAPHIES:
FRANK JONES:
‘Frank Jones sings songs about people that walk down the same streets I do, cross the same rivers, drink the same brand of beer. Frank writes locally, which makes him a truly international writer. I know the people in his songs. I know their heartache and heartease’ (Paul Kelly).
As a founding member of The Whirling Furphies Frank penned Melbourne's iconic anthem, ‘My Brown Yarra’, one of the great songs about Melbourne. His lifetime of cross-genre songwriting includes five outstanding albums of his own and a multitude of songs written for and co-written with other artists.
Frank has won the Lawson Paterson Songwriters’ Award (Port Fairy Folk Festival), two Labour Day Song Awards, an Apollo Bay Music Festival Song Award, and an Australian Songwriters’ Award, First Prize.
His songs have been nominated for the 2013 Aria Song of the Year, 2013 APRA Urban Song of the Year and APRA Most Played Australian Work of the Year, reaching number 8 on the 2011 JJJ Hottest 100.

BILL JACKSON:
‘Bill Jackson is coming from the grass roots, from the ground up, from the struggle of the 99% - his songs are gritty and real and come at you like a hammer, ringin' in the mornin'. Take it or leave it, he's telling it straight up’. (Shane Howard)
Jackson has firmly established himself over the past few years as one of Australia’s finest Singer/Songwriters. He has released eight solo albums and toured North America four times.
'Steel & Bone' was awarded Folk Alliance Australia 'Radio Presenters Album of the Year' in 2008 and his 2011 album ‘Jerilderie’ was enthusiastically received in the marketplace, so much so that the song ‘Something in Blue’ was covered by legendary Americana artist David Olney.
‘The Wayside Ballads Vol 2’ was nominated for a Music Victoria Award in 2016 whilst his 2021 album, ‘The Wayside Ballads Vol 3’, produced by Kerryn Tolhurst was awarded ‘Contemporary Album of the Year’ at The Australian Folk Music Awards. He has just released a new album ‘1965’, again produced by Kerryn Tolhurst.

Dave has also toured extensively in Australia, North America, Europe and Asia. For the past twenty years he has been instrumentalist and co-producer for partner Tiffany Eckhardt.
Dave has recently completed four years as a tutor in the songwriting stream of the degree course at UTAS, and he and Tiffany have relocated to Victoria .
