About this Event
Welcome to The Kind Therapy's Perinatal Mental Health Group! Come join us in a warm and welcoming place where soon-to-be parents and new parents can gather to talk about the joys and challenges of pregnancy and being a parent. Our experienced therapists lead the discussions in a supportive environment where you can freely share your feelings, ask questions, and connect with others who understand what you're going through. Whether you're feeling a bit overwhelmed, anxious, or just need some extra support, this group is here to help. Join us and let's tackle this journey together!
In Michigan, there are big differences in how babies are born healthy depending on whether their parents are white or people of color (POC), like African Americans and Native Americans. POC often have more babies who die young, are born too early, or are too small compared to white families. POC also sometimes struggle to get the healthcare they need before their babies are born, which makes these problems worse. On top of that, POC moms might feel more stressed and have more mental health issues because of unfair treatment and racism. To fix this, we need to make sure everyone can get good healthcare and support POC moms' mental health to help them and their babies be healthier in Michigan.
