The Keel Assembly Community Ceilidh Band Workshops are for people who play a traditional instrument to any level and would like to learn how to play for a regular monthly ceilidh in Sunderland.Starting February 23rd you are very welcome to join Rachael Hales and Steve Cogdon at Bethany City Church, Bede Tower, Sunderland. SR2 7EA between 7pm and 9pm and every Monday evening after that (except for Bank Holidays).
You will learn to play tunes suitable for lots of different dances.
Traditional instruments inc. fiddles, accordions, flutes, guitars, melodeons, whistles etc are most welcome but if you play another instrument please get in touch and we'll always try and accommodate you somewhere.
Inclusivity and being able to contribute is what's most important to us so please do not worry about whether you think you are good enough.
Your first visit is free and after that it is £7.00 per week with all notation and resources supplied.
We will gauge progress carefully, without any pressure on participants at all and if all is well we will be looking to hold our first full ceilidh in the summer and on the last Monday of every month thereafter. Best thing about it is when you do play for our ceilidh that night is FREE.
Of course we'd be delighted to see you every week but there's no obligation, you can pop your head round the corner whenever you feel like it. So first things first come along, you're guaranteed lots and lots of fun. There really is nothing better than playing music with other people and no other feeling like playing music for real life dancers.
Any questions please email [email protected] or ring / message Steve on 07542 536604
