Mojave Desert singer-songwriter Pat Kearns persists among the most recognizable voices in the high-desert folk-rock landscape, further cemented by winning the Joshua Tree Voice “Joshua” award for Best Make Vocal of 2023. Accompanied by artist/stylist/musician Susan Kearns on stand-up bass; together, they’re The Kearns Family: a wide-brimmed, steely-eyed duo embodying the traditions of ‘60s/70s outlaw/cosmic country.
The Kearns Family released their debut album of their original music, Together and Alone, in January of 2025.
Some of their album reviews:
“Sharing musical DNA with John Prine, Leonard Cohen, and other kindred balladeers, Together and Alone feels timeless and immediate at once, sure to resonate in any era.” - No Depression
“The emotion just pours from the speakers as we yearn to live the story ourselves. This is phenomenal songwriting.” - Indie Band Guru
“Their songs are poignant and masterfully written with a deep sensibility.” - Philly Cheeze’s Rock & Blues Reviews
“As the title Together And Alone suggests, there’s a duality running their latest album that will reward deep excavation and reveal hidden delights on successive spins.” - The Midlands Rocks
“And the land certainly has an effect on their music, on their art. You can see it in Susan’s paintings, and hear it in Pat’s songs. The Kearns Family’s new album, Together And Alone, features all original music, these songs populated by characters that seem inherent to the desert landscape, their tales blowing in on a warm, dusty breeze.” - Michael Doherty’s Music Log
