To Whom it May Concern,The friends and family of Justin “Pete” Slusser are organizing the seventh annual Justin “Pete” Slusser fishing tournament to be held on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at the Berwick Test Track Park Ramp. All of the proceeds raised for this event will go toward a scholarship fund created in his name through the Community Giving Foundation. After battling Stage IV Melanoma for over three years, Justin lost his battle in April of 2019, just one week shy of his 30th birthday. Justin was a 2007 graduate of Berwick Area High School and continued his education at Penn State University, majoring in Civil Engineering. This scholarship fund will award a scholarship to a Berwick Area Senior attending Penn State, with an emphasis on a degree in engineering.
We are asking businesses and individuals for their support by donating baskets or raffle items toward a basket raffle that will take place throughout this event. We would love to keep Justin’s memory alive for years to come by holding this fishing tournament each Labor Day weekend. Justin was an avid fisherman and regularly participated in the Berwick Lunker League, up until weeks before his death. We believe this event will raise the necessary funds to keep this scholarship a success and his memory alive in Berwick throughout the years.
