Philadelphia, PA, June 25,2023- The JLW Project is a nonprofit organization aimed at eliminating the current dropout rates throughout Philadelphia schools, and other urban centers throughout the nation. Currently, over a fifth of Philadelphia high school students never graduate, and of those that do- more than seventy percent do not graduate from college. Both of these statistics point to the need for strong and strategic intervention.
Through the marriage of education to young adults with anti-violence and anti-racism initiatives, the JLW Project’s opportunities for leadership and creative expression serve as the foundation from which students can graduate, grow, and positively contribute to their neighborhoods and communities.
Enter ‘The Fashion Project’- as we Present The Jungle Book Of Fashion a quarterly showcase providing Philly-based young adults the platform to share their talents, passions, and creativity. This endeavor takes months to bring together for the public to enjoy. As a result, participants get direct exposure to problem solving, team building, and effective communication. These and other soft skills are so vital for both academic and social success. The memories created also curate new creative partnerships- and friendships.
The JLW Project uses the proceeds from the Fashion Project to fund the establishment of real estate dedicated to a stand-alone public school. This school will serve as the hub for all things JLW Project related- male leadership training, youth tutoring, fashion coaching, and community outreach. When the first class of students graduates from the JLW Project as 8th graders, they will be primed for high school excellence, strongly prepared for high school success and graduation.
