About this Event
Each year TONE hosts a weekend-long celebration of Juneteenth with the community; and we’re calling our family back home for Juneteenth: A Family Reunion. Juneteenth is the day that Black Americans in the south received news of their freedom and the day that shifted our reality, forever. It’s our job to honor the lives that have come before us and shape the reality for those that will come after us.
Last year, we went from the MET to the MOUND, and this year it ain’t no different, we’re just gonna add some ghetto fabulousness to the mix.
So, “If they say “how are you,” we say livin’ large and takin’ charge big boy!”
Because on Saturday, June 17th, we’re meeting you at the Cadre, downtown and the theme for the GALA is B.A.P.S., it’s giving Black American Princesses’ Slaying: so wear those long elegant white gloves, with a grill in your mouth, have ya nails long, and those corsets tight. It’s giving Black American Princes’ Serving: so wear those Victorian suits, with a durag, have ya sleeves embroidered and ya chains hanging low.
Come dressed to impress, because we will turn you around at the door.
Our GALA gives us the opportunity to toast it up and cheers to the future of Black creatives; while also, raising money to accomplish the goals we’ve set for TONE and our plans for the Orange Mound tower.

What’s our GALA without the afterparty? Nonexistent. Last year, we had a time on the Mississippi Riverboat. This year our afterparty will be directly after the GALA at the Cadre.
Bring ya’ knees ready and schedule ya Ubers in advance, because a time will be had.
