This 6-day intensive workshop invites us to experience the body as a continuously transforming, circulating, meeting, and communicating processโalways connected to both inner and outer environments.
Listening, touch, and dance become the doorway into inter-being, the nature of the universe. Contact Improvisation provides a powerful tool and state for tuning into this joyful interconnectedness.
We will dive into active, physical, and subtle listening with curiosity. When we listen fully, every moment around and within us reveals its music, dance, and poetry. Through CI, we will explore what arises and is created as an interconnected, momentary body. We will listen with the whole body while inquiring into textures, attitudes, and the methodologies of in-betweenness, inter-being, and inter-body relations.
This workshop explores the dance that emerges between things in relationshipโbetween events, landscapes, songs, and poems. It is a dance of Contact Improvisation where the body becomes the very space between, inviting participants into deep listening, attentive reading, and embodied inquiry.
The human body is a living ecologyโdynamic, layered, and ever-changing. Through CI, participants will investigate the inter-relational dynamics between bodies, within bodies, and across space and time.
We will explore the body as a forest composed of cells, systems, and organs; the relationship between inner and outer spaces; silence and dynamism; fullness and emptiness; boundaries and boundarylessness; contemplative states and playful ones. Touch, voice, somatic approaches, Body-Mind Centeringยฎ, Poong-gyung, GAMU, improvisation, play, solo and group research, writing, and feedback will all be part of our shared work.
