About this Event

The Jamboree Jam! — A MAJOR peaceful rally to save our hills! Featuring inspirational speakers, a protest march and live music jam.

WHEN: Autumnal Equinox, Sunday, 1PM, September 22. Please arrive on time to hear speakers and get photographed and filmed while marching and jamming.

WHERE: Peacefully gather at the intersection of Jamboree Rd and E Chapman Ave, Orange, CA 92869 (parking available in nearby shopping center where you can purchase beverages &/or snacks)

WHO: YOU + everyone you know! Our goal is to have at least 1,180 attendees. Bring family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and strangers, so we can reach our goal! We need to show The Irvine Company and the City of Orange that we do not want Orange Heights. Now is the 11th hour!

WHY: Our petition now has almost 19,000 signatures of residents from Orange & beyond who do NOT want to lose the hills outside Irvine Regional Park to the 1,180 single-family homes of The Irvine Company.

No Orange Heights (NOH) opposes the development of the 400-acre wildlife corridor between Irvine Regional Park and Peters Canyon, which supports mountain lion, least Bell's vireo, Crotch’s bumble bee, white-tailed kite and other special status species. It is considered a culturally sensitive area by the local Native American tribes and is located in a Very High Fire Severity Zone where traffic congestion is at its worst. Watch our short film Irreplaceable by Paul Sargeant on our website & YouTube.

WHAT TO WEAR:

  • Green shirts.
  • Costumes of wildlife that inhabit the hills (mountain lions, bobcats, birds, etc.) are encouraged!

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Large signs with bold lettering. Examples: "No Orange Heights," "Save Our Hills," "Let Nature Live," and "Enough is Enough."
  • Noisemakers, drums, and acoustic musical instruments.
  • Sun protection (hats, umbrellas, layered clothing).
  • Water (or purchase from Albertsons nearby).
  • High energy and enthusiasm to make a statement and save this land!
NOH SHIRTS & SIGNS: We’ll have a limited supply of No Orange Heights yard signs and shirts available.

MUSIC: Be prepared to jam, dance and sing with drums and other acoustic musical instruments.

We can do it. Let’s show them now. They did it for Laguna Canyon in 1989 with ~8,000 people marching four miles up Laguna Canyon Road. We can do it for Orange and our beloved regional parks.
