About this Event
Power Point discussions led by Prof. Santi Buscemi based on the following units:
UNIT XVIII: Scientists - Italy has given the world many scientists from Archimedes to Galvani and beyond. In America, Guigliemo Marconi, Enrico Fermi, Antonio Meucii, Emilio Segrè, and Renato Dulbecco made milestone contributions to science and technology.
XIX: Business People/Entrepreurs - Featured in this unit are Amadeo Giannini, whose Bank of Italy was the predecessor of Bank of America, Ernest and Julio Gallo, Lee Iacocca, Ken Langone, and Robert Nardelli.
UNIT **: Important Events in Italian American History: The series ends with a review of the most important and tragic events in Italian American history: The New Orleans lynchings, The false arrests and convictions of Sacco and Vanzetti, The Shirtwaist Factory Fire, The Internment of Italian Americans during WWII. The author was inspired to create this entire series when he became aware that many Italian Americans had little or no knowledge of these horrific events and the suffering that Italian Americans endured because of them.
